This single-family residence is on a hypothetical sloping site in Kitsap County, Washington overlooking the Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains. The house includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a study, with public and private spaces grouped into distinct massing elements. The single-story design avoids stairs and allows for aging in place, and the interlocking roof massing evokes the Olympic Mountains and allows for expansive views. The simplified palette of wood, metal, and exposed concrete and post-and-beam construction blends with native landscaping and evokes the design traditions of the Pacific Northwest.
